Debatéri v Tisovci bojovali o postup na svetový turnaj

V dňoch 24. – 26. marca 2006 študenti Evanjelického gymnázia v Tisovci usporiadali v jeho priestoroch pod záštitou Slovenskej debatnej asociácie finálový turnaj Anglickej debatnej ligy. Odmenou, ktorá motivovala všetkých zúčastnených k čo najväčšiemu úsiliu a k čo najlepším podaným výkonom, nebol len cenný titul slovenského majstra, ale taktiež vybojovanie si postupu na celosvetový debatný turnaj Medzinárodnej debatnej asociácie (IDEA) v Rumunsku.
Celé podujatie prebiehalo v anglickom jazyku. V jeho základnej časti si súťažiaci zmerali sily svojich argumentov v troch nepripravených, tzv. impromptu tézach. Postupne sa tak debatovalo o tom, či Participation at the election should be compulsory (Účasť na voľbách by mala byť povinná), či Torture can be justified (Mučenie môže byť ospravedlniteľné) a napokon sa zúčastnení pokúšali potvrdzovať i vyvracať tézu Public broadcast service is necessary (Verejnoprávne médiá sú potrebné). O svojej pravde v priebehu týchto troch debát dokázali rozhodcov najviac presvedčiť debatéri z tímu Evanjelického lýcea v Bratislave a debatéri z domáceho tímu Tisovec 2.
Oba tímy tak postúpili do finále turnaja, ktoré sa uskutočnilo v priestoroch Mestského úradu v Tisovci. Žreb pred debatou určil, že súhlasné stanovisko pri pripravenej, jeden mesiac pred turnajom ohlásenej téze A policy should be adopted to promote global compliance with the Convention on the Rights of the Child (Je potrebné prijať plán na posilnenie globálneho uplatňovania Dohovoru o právach dieťaťa) budú obhajovať študenti usporiadateľského gymnázia. Túto svoju úlohu si v súboji s kolegami z Bratislavy aj dokázali splniť a päťčlenný rozhodcovský panel im prisúdil víťazstvo v pomere 4:1. Víťazný tím Debatéri tímu Tisovec 2 (Ľubomír Svačina, Viktor Vigoda, Vratko Strmeň) sa tak stali majstrami Slovenska a budú našu krajinu reprezentovať na júlovom medzinárodnom turnaji v Rumunskom meste Predeal.
Ďalšie dve medailové umiestnenia si rozdelili tímy z Evanjelického lýcea v Bratislave (Andrej Schulcz, Adam Grohe, Juraj Špilda) a domáci tím Tisovec 1 (Matej Cíbik, Dávid Svačina, Roman Veverka).

Debaters in Tisovec Compe

From 24th to 26th March, the students of Lutheran High School in Tisovec were, under the patronate of Slovak Debate Association, organizing the final tournament of the English Debate League. The reward, motivating all participants to do their best, was not only a prestigious title of Slovak champion, but also opportunity to represent Slovakia at the Summer Youth Forum organized by Internation Debate Education Association in Romania. The official language throughout the whole tournament was English.
In its preliminary round, the competitors were comparing the strength of their arguments in three impromptu debates. Successively it was disputed whether Participation at the election should be compulsory, whether Torture can be justified and finally were the participants trying to support or negate the motion Public broadcast service is necessary. During these three debates, the best job to show the judges that the truth is on their side was done by teams from Lutheran Lyceum in Bratislava and Lutheran High School in Tisovec 2.
Both teams thus advanced to the final debate of the tournament that was held in the Town Hall of Tisovec. The draw before the debate determined that the affirmative position in the debate on the prepared, one month in advance announced motion A policy should be adopted to promote global compliance with the Convention on the Rights of the child will be supported by the students from the domestic high school. In the battle with their opponents from Bratislava, they managed to fulfil this task and the panel of totally five judges awarded them the victory with a score of 4 to 1.
Victorious Team The debaters from the team Tisovec 2 (from the left: Ľubomír Svačina, Viktor Vigoda, Vratko Strmeň) are Slovak champions and will represent our country at the international tournament held in Romanian town Predeal in July 2006. The team from the Lutheran High School in Bratislava (Andrej Schulcz, Adam Grohe, Juraj Špilda) ranked 2nd and the bronze medal place was taken by Tisovec 1 (Matej Cíbik, Dávid Svačina, Roman Veverka).
